Irish author set for the big screen

The writer of the Martin Scorsese film 'The Departed' is bringing a novel by Irish crime author Ken Bruen to the big screen.
Variety reports that William Monahan has acquired the rights to Bruen's 'London Boulevard' and has nearly completed the script for the film, which will mark his directorial debut.
'London Boulevard' tells the story of a London criminal who tries to go straight by becoming a handyman for a reclusive actress.
